Coffee Hackers

Coffee Hackers makes our list for the best specialty coffee in Barcelona. Here’s why… This hidden gem in a lesser known neighbourhood of Barcelona serves some of the best espresso, cortados and lattes in the city. The espresso here especially is one of my favourite drinks and on its day it’s one of the best I’ve tried. It even has a special type of glass I’d never seen before and looks beautiful in presentation. They’re a micro roaster with the coffee roasted in house so you know it’s fresh and you can always take some of their beans to go. It’s one of the few Barcelona based specialty coffee shops that opens early @ 8:00am. For a while it was a key part of my morning routine when walking the dog and taking an espresso. It’s work friendly and there’s lot’s of available table space. Most importantly you have Mt. Tibidabo in the background and it looks majestic while enjoying your coffee and taking in this beautiful Barcelona neighbourhood. It’s not quite at the very top, although it’s close. This is definitely one of the hillier parts of the city. ⭐️ One of the best espressos 🥱 Opens early ⛰️ Hilly area (Mt. Specialty Coffee in Barcelona

Barcelona has become one of the most exciting cities in Europe for specialty coffee. From the narrow lanes of the Gothic Quarter to the wide boulevards of Eixample, independent roasters and third-wave cafes have transformed how the city drinks coffee. What started as a handful of pioneers has grown into a scene with dozens of dedicated spaces, each with its own character and approach to sourcing and brewing.

The neighbourhoods tell the story. In Gracia you will find relaxed, community-driven spots where locals linger over flat whites. The Born and Gothic Quarter mix historic settings with modern brewing, often in beautifully restored spaces. Eixample offers bigger, brighter cafes with room to work, while Poblenou and Sant Antoni have become hubs for creative roasters pushing boundaries with experimental processes and single-origin beans.

Many of Barcelona's best cafes roast their own beans or work closely with local roasters like Nomad, Right Side, and Three Marks. You will find everything from classic espresso to pour-over bars, cold brew on tap, and tasting flights. A growing number of shops also focus on sustainability, working directly with farms and choosing minimal packaging.
