Collection of the best specialty coffee shops in Barcelona

From Gracia to Poblenou and everywhere in between, Barcelona’s coffee scene is thriving. With 50+ specialty coffee stores and cafés (and more opening every week). Barcelona is one of the best cities in Spain to find and enjoy great coffee. Many of these cafés have opened in recent years to embrace the specialty coffee wave and celebrate coffee as an experience. You can find a diverse range of local roasters, unique and architecturally interesting cafés and different visual and sensory experiences all over the city.

There’s famous cafés and hidden gems everywhere. To start, we recommend visiting the neighbourhoods of Gràcia (so many great coffee places including Sitio, Slowmov and more), Ciutat Vella (Nomad Coffee — Lab & Shop and wonderful architecture) and Fort Pienc which has many of our favourite places (Brew Coffee and Three Marks Coffee).

Sitio

Sitio

Located at the top of Gràcia in a quieter part of this beautiful neighbourhood. We found this place by chance on an evening stroll and it’s one you should visit too. Sitio is more than a coffee place. A modern concept this is a space for fashion, design, conversation and of course excellent coffee. C/ de les Tres Senyores, 24, Gràcia, 08024 Barcelona Open now

Lukumás

Lukumás

We love Lukamás for the amazing donuts and great speciality coffee. The donuts are handcrafted in house and are highly recommended. The coffee here is from Hidden Coffee Roasters, a Barcelona based roaster who are known for quality speciality coffee. Located at the top of Gràcia it’s well worth the trip. The top of Gràcia is also home to many interesting and unique clothing stores, beautiful plazas and serene streets. For those travelling to Barcelona it’s a 20 minute walk from Park Güell. We recommend walking up through the pretty streets of Gràcia or taking the metro to Lesseps and stopping by this special place. Carrer del Torrent de l'Olla, 169, Gràcia, 08012 Barcelona Open now

Roast Club Cafe

Roast Club Cafe

Roast Club Cafe makes our list for the best specialty coffee in Barcelona. Here’s why… This popular spot in Esquerra de l’Eixample not only roasts it’s own coffee but it has some of the most unusual blends you’ll find anywhere in the city. They are roasting innovators with unique creations and flavour profiles like Blueberry Fudge, Zesty Pavlova and Choco Power. The cafe has everything including a terrace out front, espresso bar for coffee on-the-go and indoor seating. We really enjoyed watching the barista serving the customers at the espresso bar and seeing first hand the skill and enjoyment he was getting from making coffee. There was a decent queue when we arrived and we’re sure this place is just as famous for it’s brunch as the coffee. The brunch menu was stacked with everything from overnight oats to delicious toasts and sandwiches. The branding and aesthetic of this place are just cool and really add to the coffee club vibe. 🍭 Creative and unique coffee blends (locally roasted) ☀️ Terrace ☕️ Espresso bar for coffee-to-go 🥞 Delicious food 🏛 Located in Esquerra de l’Eixample Espresso Machine: Victoria Arduino Coffee Roaster: Roast Club Vegan Milk: Oat Other Food & Drink: Brunch, pastries Instagram: @roastclubcafe C/ de València, 190, 08011 Barcelona Open now

Nomad Coffee Frutas Selectas

Nomad Coffee Frutas Selectas

The front of Frutas Selectas has a unique design and branding and stands out from the other buildings on the street. There’s also a small terrace out front with limited seating that gets the best of the days sun. The café is modern and spacious inside and continues the Frutas Selectas visuals with the bold, bright red typeface used for the menus and coffee list. There’s a nice ambience as the mix of customers and busy baristas blends together to enjoy specialty coffee. The coffee roasted locally by Nomad and from the Americas and Africa is of the high quality you would expect. Nomad Coffee has a distinct taste and smell to it and the lovely aromas fill this café. You can order anything from espresso to cold brew and everything in-between. There’s also the option of oat milk. You can buy Nomad Coffee roasted beans and the baristas will happily grind them to your specification. The available coffee list is broad with options from all over including specialty coffees from Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala and Kenya. We have to mention the food. We visited for the coffee and were surprised this café had daily lunch specials. We ordered the omelette and a local Barcelona specialty Butifarra. Both were excellent (especially the omellete). There’s also lovely cakes and pastries, sandwiches and more. One of the best specialty coffee shops in Barcelona. C. de Pujades, 95, Sant Martí, 08005 Barcelona Open now

Ciutat Vella

Ciutat Vella

Barcelona’s Barri Gòtic (Gothic Quarter) in Ciutat Vella is one of its most famous and old neighbourhoods. It’s a great place to get lost in the labyrinth like streets. This also gives plenty of opportunity to discover new coffee places and hidden gems like COTO COFFEE + COLMADO. We recommend taking some time to look around this beautiful neighbourhood and enjoy the stunning architecture with a coffee in hand. We’re still exploring El Raval in Barcelona’s Ciutat Vella. There’s a lot to discover and it’s famous for it’s unique architecture, street culture and thrift and pop up stores. For now we recommend visiting Dalston Coffee and getting your favorite coffee to go while walking this unique neighbourhood. One of our favourite areas in Barcelona El Born and part of the Ciutat Vella. It’s also home to many great coffee places. We recommend getting a coffee to go from the excellent Nomad Coffee - Lab & Shop (famous Barcelona roasters) and enjoying the beautiful streets and incredible medieval architecture.

Eixample

This beautiful (and huge) area of Barcelona is known for its wide avenues and beautiful art nouveau buildings. It includes must see places like La Sagrada Familia and Casa Batlló. It’s also home to many great coffee places and cafés.

El Putxet I el Farró

El Putxet I el Farró

A lesser know neighbourhood between Gracia and Sant Gervasi, El Putxet I el Farró is home to Coffee Hackers, one of our favourite micro roasters and cafés in the city. There’s other hidden gems in this hilly and unique neighbourhood so it’s definitely worth a visit.

Fort Pienc

Fort Pienc

Fort Pienc is the last neighbourhood as you leave the old Barcelona and arrive in the more modern and industrial Poblenou. It’s also one of our favourite neighbourhoods for coffee and is home to some heavy hitters including two of the best roasters and cafés in Barcelona in Three Marks Coffee and Brew Coffee.

Gràcia

Gràcia

Gracia is one of our favourite neighbourhoods and it has an incredible selection of specialty coffee places and cafés. Located above Eixample, it has a unique and friendly atmosphere. We recommend grabbing a coffee to go from Slowmov, News & Coffee or one of the many other excellent places here and enjoying this quaint and special barrio.

Poblenou

Poblenou

Poblenou, the former industrial heart of Barcelona, is now one of its most exciting and diverse neighbourhoods. With its wide avenues and industrial-style buildings, it provides a great backdrop for specialty coffee shops and cafes. The landscape and style of the area have transformed to match the creative, technology-driven community here. Poblenou is home to some of the best Barcelona-based roasters and specialty coffee shops, with new places opening all the time.
