Located in El Born this is an always busy brunch place. The terrace at the front is pretty and places you right in front of a plaza with all kinds of interesting things to observe. The inside is nice and comfortable if the busy gothic neighbourhood is too much. The coffee is also excellent and provided by El Magnifico a Barcelona based roaster.

COTO COFFEE + COLMADO

Coto coffee makes our list for the best specialty coffee in Barcelona. Here’s why… When you find this place it’s like discovering a secret spot. You have to take the right turns and choose the right alley and hope it appears 😅 Low key one of the most interesting coffee to go places in Barcelona. Partly because of the location, mostly because of the illustrations and creative vibe going on in this space. Coto’s going hard on the artistic front and the place is packed with bright colors, illustrations, artwork and artisanal food and wine. Their own vibrant branding which is super fun and cool is plastered over everything from the windows to the beans. The coffee here is from local roaster Onawa and the barista made two excellent cortados with oat milk for us which was perfect on this winters day. We enjoyed the coffee in the alley outside and even with the low light we got some awesome photos of the gothic architecture and surroundings nearby. If you are in the gothic quarter we recommend finding this one of a kind place. 🌈 Creative space with art and illustration 🧐 Secret location (kind of) 🏰 Gothic quarter Espresso Machine: La Marzocco Coffee Roaster: Onawa Coffee Roasters Vegan Milk: Oat Other Food & Drink: Homemade cakes Instagram: @coto.bcn

Nomad Coffee - Lab & Shop

Nomad Coffee - Lab & Shop makes our list for the best specialty coffee in Barcelona. Here's why… Established in 2014 as one of the first specialty coffee shops in Barcelona, Nomads goal was to showcase the quality of specialty coffee in the city at a time when less was known about this process. It's great to see, that even today the experience of this location is strictly coffee. There's limited seating, it's coffee to go and it has a huge range of signature roasts and selections to choose from. On our visit, the place was packed with excited customers waiting for their espressos, pour overs and everything in between. The baristas are friendly and knowledgeable and asked us how we like our coffee to make something to match our tastes. The cafe is surprisingly lush and right in front is a huge collection of plants that Nomad have complemented with green throughout their store and coffee menus on the interior. A few notes on the location: Passatge Sert is a beautiful pedestrian only walkway (not visible on Google Maps) which runs from Carrer d’Ortigosa to Carrer de Sant Pere Més Alt. Even if coffee isn't your number one goal, this is one street in Barcelona you need to check out. It cuts through the century old buildings, has a magical atmosphere and the interior is home to lots of cute independent stores. At one end of this street you’ll find Nomad Coffee - Lab & Shop. ⭐️ Great coffee 🌿 Unique location 🏰 Gothic architecture 🔮 Magical atmosphere
