Bluebell is a cornerstone of Valencia's specialty coffee scene. More than just a café, they are a dedicated roastery with a mission, known for ethically sourcing and supporting women throughout the coffee industry for years. Their reputation precedes them, we’ve even spotted their beans in shops as far away as China. The menu hanging above the bar reflects their commitment to the craft. You can choose between specific bean origins and roast profiles depending on whether you prefer a bright pour-over or a balanced espresso. It’s no surprise their baristas are regulars on the national competition circuit for Aeropress and Espresso. Housed on the ground floor of a beautiful early-century building, the space preserves classic Spanish details like vaulted ceilings and raw stone walls. For those looking to work, it's a focused and welcoming environment on quieter days. Last we checked, the Wi-Fi was reliable, making it a great place for a laptop session paired with their excellent brunch, which features fresh ingredients and high-quality plates. They are officially one of our 5 Top-Rated Cafés for Coffee & Food in the city

Since its opening, we've been intrigued by Casa Raíz, which has quickly established itself as one of Ruzafa's most popular cafés. They serve consistently great coffee, using beans roasted by the renowned Hola Coffee from Madrid. We always find ourselves stopping by for a cortado or one of their well-pulled espressos. Beyond the caffeine, they offer a unique selection of locally-made ice cream, which is a nice complement to a hot espresso on a sunny afternoon. The space itself is a beautiful restoration; they've maintained the original character of the building with high ceilings and antique wood doors, blending classic Valencian architecture with modern minimalist elements. If you're looking for a quiet moment, the spacious terrace at the back is a hidden gem for those temperate spring and autumn days. Defecto Bar makes our list for the best specialty coffee in Valencia. Here’s why… The new owners of this space in El Botànic have transformed it into one of the neighbourhoods trendiest bars. They serve natural wines and really good coffee “Vinos naturals y café del bueno”. Which makes this a good option for coffee or wine lovers (or both)! Defecto in Spanish means to have a flaw or defect…which is ironic because the coffee here is flawless ;) they serve delicious specialty coffee prepared with love from local Valencian roasters Foc Coffee. They’re pet friendly so we always like to stop in with the dog when we’re walking the city and need a coffee/snack boost. The place has a really nice design, soundtrack (good music playing) and ambience, full of illustrative and creative art (that you can buy). We have to mention the food which is simple, yet delicious. There’s everything from toasted sandwiches to oven baked cheesecake and brownies. They’re also starting to organise collaborations like the recent SushiJap event which is really exciting. 🏆 One of the best specialty coffees ⚡️ Coffee from local Valencia roasters Foc ☕️ Talented baristas 🥐 Delicious food 🌳 Located in El Botànic

This coffee-to-go spot in Ruzafa is all about quality over quantity. It is a compact, intentional space with just enough room for their espresso machine and a rotating selection of coffee beans. Rather than roasting their own, they function as a true multi-roaster, featuring a curated lineup of local, national, and international roasters. With a clearly visible coffee menu, it is easy to understand the different flavor profiles and origins available for both their espresso and filter offerings. You can choose a profile that suits your taste, or the owners are more than happy to help guide you through the day's selection. The shop features a nice, clean aesthetic with minimalist white walls and a gleaming white espresso machine, while the colorful coffee bags add a creative pop of color. While there is no indoor seating, they have a small bench outside where you can sit and enjoy your coffee while soaking in the Ruzafa neighborhood energy.

We love this café in Cabanyal because it's a welcoming, high-energy space that fits the neighborhood perfectly. They keep things interesting by rotating different roasters from around the world, so the coffee selection is always changing. It's a very popular spot for the digital work crowd, and you'll usually find the inside full of people on laptops during the week. We've used the front terrace as our "office on the go" quite a few times already; it's one of our favorite places to get some work done outside with a high-quality coffee. Whether you're heading to the port or just exploring the Cabanyal area, it's well worth a stop.
We discovered this café in 2024 while walking through Ruzafa. It is an interesting concept that focuses on combining a fully plant-based and vegan brunch menu with high-quality specialty coffee. Because they open at 8:30 am, it is also a practical stop for a coffee-to-go on the way to work. One of the highlights here is their commitment to variety; they rotate their guest roaster every month, featuring a selection of both local and international brands. The owner and the team are welcoming and demonstrate a clear technical knowledge of coffee, making their choice of roasters feel very intentional. For those looking for a place to work, the café is a quiet and focused environment on weekdays where laptops are welcome. The front of the shop is filled with plants, and there is a spacious, bright terrace that makes for a comfortable outdoor spot. It is a reliable choice for anyone in Ruzafa looking for a professional workspace paired with technical, rotating coffee options.

They maintain a strong rotation of guest roasters, and the baristas are skilled at technical extractions, whether you are ordering a beautifully pulled espresso or a clean pour-over. If you prefer your coffee rich and full of flavor, this is a great destination. Outside, you can usually find the current roasts and bean selections for the day clearly listed. They are well-known for their no-nonsense approach to quality. While the coffee is the star, the food is equally impressive; the tiramisu here is famous, and pairing it with a double espresso is a local favorite. Special mention goes to their sandwiches, which are consistently delicious and made using locally sourced bread and fresh ingredients. While indoor seating is limited, the terrace is the heart of this place—it's where most people gather to relax and soak in the neighborhood vibe.
Beautiful plaza de Joan de Vila-rasa beside the central mercado of Valencia has a new café: Masa. With a fresh modern design, cute illustrations, they are serving some delicious coffee, baked goods and home made sandwiches.
This is our go-to early morning coffee spot. If we have the time, we always stop for a light breakfast; they serve local classics like pincho de tortilla and tostadas with tomato and jamón. Because they are also a dedicated roaster, the quality of their espresso and pour-overs is consistently high, and the staff is both knowledgeable and skilled in their craft. Inside, there is a great illustration on the wall that breaks down the different types of coffee. If you have ever wondered about the technical differences between a cortado, an espresso lungo, or a flat white, the diagram makes it easy to understand. It's a welcoming, unpretentious place. This refurbished spot in El Carmen combines beautiful design with a thoughtful approach to coffee and food.
