Brewtalist is a bit of a hidden gem right in the city center. The coffee is very, very good, and the low-key setting means you can just sit and enjoy it without any fuss. What makes the place unusual is the collection of espresso machines from major brands like La Marzocco and Sage, all available for sale. Part cafe, part showroom. A must visit if you are anywhere near the city centre. Open Monday to Thursday from 10am to 6pm (closed Fridays), with shorter Saturday and Sunday sessions from 10am to 2pm.

They have been using Hola Coffee for as long as we can remember, and the quality of their service is always high, with consistently great espresso and filter options. Everything is made in-house, from the sandwiches to the baked goods, and the baristas are experts. It is a small space with limited seating, but the popularity means you will often see queues out the door. The wait is always worth it for the quality of the food and coffee. Opens at 8:30am on weekdays, 9:30am on weekends.

Nico occupies a historic spot on Plaza del Forn de Sant Nicolau in El Carmen. The original bakery opened here in 1902, and the new owners honour that history while bringing the space into the specialty coffee era. A perfect find on hot summer days when you need a refreshing stop while exploring the old town.
