El Putxet I el Farró

Coffee Hackers

This hidden gem in a lesser known neighbourhood of Barcelona serves some of the best espresso, cortados and lattes in the city. The espresso here especially is one of my favourite drinks and on its day it’s one of the best I’ve tried. It even has a special type of glass I’d never seen before and looks beautiful in presentation. They’re a micro roaster with the coffee roasted in house so you know it’s fresh and you can always take some of their beans to go. It’s one of the few Barcelona based specialty coffee shops that opens early @ 8:00am. For a while it was a key part of my morning routine when walking the dog and taking an espresso. It’s work friendly and there’s lot’s of available table space. Most importantly you have Mt. Tibidabo in the background and it looks majestic while enjoying your coffee and taking in this beautiful Barcelona neighbourhood. It’s not quite at the very top, although it’s close. This is definitely one of the hillier parts of the city. ⭐️ One of the best espressos 🥱 Opens early ⛰️ Hilly area (Mt. Best Cafés to Work From in Valencia (2026 Guide)

In Valencia, a city that lives outdoors, finding a spot where specialty coffee and a focused workspace coexist is an art form. Here's our guide to some of the best.

Specialty Coffee Across Spain

Spain's specialty coffee scene has come a long way. What was once dominated by dark-roasted torrefacto blends has given way to a new generation of roasters and cafes dedicated to quality, transparency, and craft. Barcelona and Valencia lead the charge, each with their own thriving communities of independent coffee shops that rival anything in London, Berlin, or Melbourne.

In Barcelona, the scene is mature and diverse. Neighbourhoods like Gracia, Born, and Poblenou each have their own coffee identity, from cozy neighbourhood spots to design-forward roastery cafes. Valencia is catching up fast, with areas like El Carmen and Ruzafa packed with creative spaces that blend specialty coffee with brunch culture, co-working, and local art.

CoffeeLobo is built to help you navigate both cities. Every cafe in this guide has been visited and reviewed by our team. We check opening hours, note standout features like wifi and outdoor seating, and highlight what makes each place worth visiting.
